Finding
an item
Back
to top
How do I search
for an item?
From the "simple
search" box at the top left side of every page you can search by
artist, title or record label; just enter as many or as few search
keywords as you would like. Searching for "Elvis" will give
results for Elvis Presley as well as Elvis Costello - "Elvis
Presley" will only return titles by Elvis Presley - you can always focus
your search results by adding more words. We also have a detailed
search function - Our detailed search contains several input
fields and several search filters/limiters. You must provide an entry in
at least one of the input fields. The more fields you fill, the more
focused your results will be.
How do I browse my
favorite categories?
Our
website site gives you the ability to browse our categories in several
ways. Click on any of the categories listed on the "Browse
all Categories" page, and browse through all the artists
in that category - listed alphabetically by group or last name.
How are search
results displayed?
The default search
results are displayed alphabetically by the artist's last name or group
name, with all of the in-stock titles listed first. You have the option
to change the search results display in several ways – alphabetically
by title, sorted by price (high to low / low to high), by most newly
arrived, or by format (LPs, 45s, 12").
How often is the
inventory updated?
The Recordsbymail.com
online inventory is updated every hour of every day. When we add a
title to our database, it will be available for purchase within
minutes. As soon as an item is purchased, it is immediately
removed from the online inventory.
What information
is provided for each title?
Each entry
indicates reference number, speed (LP/45), Artist, Title, Label, Label
#, Condition, comments and price. All prices are in US dollars. Unless
noted, every record is an original issue for the label and catalog
number given.
What does “add
to want list” mean?
Recordsbymail.com now
offers you the ability to be notified as soon as one of your most-wanted
titles comes into stock. Simply find the title you are looking
for. If it is not currently available, just click the "add to
want list" link, enter your email address, and we will let you know
as soon as the title becomes available.

Back

How long does my
shopping cart save my items?
Your shopping cart
will hold items indefinitely, however these items are not
reserved for your purchase until you have checked out, and may be purchased by other shoppers
during the time that they are held in your cart. This will happen
infrequently if your cart is not left for an extended period of time
before your purchase. If a title in your cart has been purchased
by another customer, you will be notified before the order is submitted,
so that you have an opportunity to make changes.
How do I delete
items and update quantities in my shopping cart?
Beneath the quantity
field for each item in your shopping cart, there is a small link that
reads "remove" by clicking this link, it will remove that
title. You may also change the quantity of an item in your cart by entering the quantity of that item next to the title and clicking on the "update" button.
Why can’t I see
my shipping charges in the shopping cart?
Although you may add titles to
your shopping cart without logging in as a customer, if you are not
logged in, your shipping preferences and address are unknown, so we
cannot calculate the shipping charge accurately. When you log in
and proceed to the checkout screen, you will see the shipping charges
before you place your order.

change rapidly, however, since we operate with a real-time online
database, items which have been purchased by other customers are
immediately removed from the online inventory. Therefore, an order
that you place has a 99% chance of being available at the time your
order is submitted. Occasionally a title in your cart may have
been purchased by another customer before your order is submitted. In
this case you will be notified so that you have an opportunity to make
changes to your order if you'd like.
