| Creating Artist
& Title Links
A great way to drive traffic and sales
from your website is to recommend specific artists or titles that relate to the content of your website. For example, if you have
a site that is dedicated to the Beatles, you can create a link directing
your visitors to check out the great selection of unusual, rare and
collectible Beatles titles at Records by Mail. You can also direct
your customers to specific titles by the Beatles. In this section we
will show you how!
In order to create links to specific
artists or titles, the first step is to join our partner program. Click
here if you have not yet joined.
Creating an Artist
Link:
Follow the steps below to create a link
directing your customers to view all the items by any artist in the
Records by Mail inventory:
- Once you are a member of our partner
program, go to the "get
links" section of the RBM page on Commission Junction.
- Find the interactive link entitled
"artist link" on the "get links" page.
- In the "artist link"
section, click on the link that says "Get Html."
This will launch a pop-up window with instructions to "Copy and
paste the following HTML code into your web pages."
The code will look like this:
<a
HREF="http://www.qksrv.net/click-1265716-10278786?
URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.recordsbymail.com%2Fa
Search.php%2Felvis%2Bpresley">artist link</a><img
src=
"http://www.qksrv.net/image-1265716-10278786" width="1"
height="1" border="0">
sample
code only - do not copy |
- After you have copied and pasted this code into your site, simply
replace "elvis" and "presley"
(highlighted above) with the name of the artist you wish to link to.
Replace the "artist link" text (also highlighted) with the
name of your artist as well.
For example, if you wish to link to the Records by Mail discography
of Ike Turner, the code will look like this:
"...Search.php%2Fike%2Bturner">Ike
Turner</a><img src=..."
- If you wish to link to a band name, you can simply enter the band name
in place of the artist name:
"...Search.php%2FBeatles">The
Beatles</a><img src=..."
or separate multiple words in a band or artist name using the code %2b
as below:
"...Search.php%2FQuicksilver%2bMessenger%2bService">
Quicksilver Messenger Service</a><img
src=..."
- Save your code, and test the
link. If you click through to the correct page, you're good to
go!
Creating an Item
Link:
Follow the steps below to create a link
directing your customers to view a specific title that you have recommended
in the Records by Mail inventory.
- Once you are a member of our partner
program, go to the "get
links" section of the RBM page on Commission Junction.
- Find the interactive link entitled
"item link" on the "get links" page.
- In the "item link"
section, Click on the link that says "Get Html." This will launch a pop-up window with instructions
to "Copy and paste the following HTML code into your web pages."
The code will look like this:
<a
HREF="http://www.qksrv.net/click-1265716-10278782?
URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.recordsbymail.com%2Fid
Search.php%2F139848">Item Name</a><img
src="http://www.qksrv.net/image-1265716-10278782"
width="1" height="1" border="0">
sample
code only - do not copy |
- After you have copied and pasted this code into your site, go to
www.recordsbymail.com, and find the ID number of the title that
you wish to link to. For example, if you want to link to Stevie
Wonder's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2, the Records by Mail listing appears as
follows:
| STEVIE
WONDER: greatest hits vol. 2 |
$18.00
|
 |
 |
notes: |
grade:
VG+ |
in
stock |
|

|
label:
TAMLA 313 |
ID#:
106548 |
format:
LP |
add
to cart |
|
The ID number for this title, 106548, is highlighted above.
- Simply replace the default item number "139848" in
the Commission Junction code with the item number of the title you wish to link
to, in this case "106548". Replace the "Item
Name" text with the title you are linking to as well.
For example, if you wish to link to the Stevie Wonder title indicated
above, the code will look like this:
"...Search.php%2F106548">Stevie
Wonder: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2</a><img
src=..."
- Save your code, and test the
link. If you click through to the correct page, you are good to
go!
Keep in mind that the remainder of the CJ
link code must remain exactly as it is shown in the "Get
Html" popup. Any missing HTML, including the image source, will
prevent the link from tracking properly and result in a loss of
commissions. Do not copy the example code from this page, as
it will not track properly and will result in lost commissions, copy the
code from the CJ popup and change
only the artist name and item number as indicated above.
